A figure in sunglasses turns in profile before flat bands of colour in Bridges Too Far, with distant hills and an orange sun, and it is one of the BrainDrops works held by the collector manta_eth.2,3 The public profile under that name lists no website or linked account, so the portrait that emerges here has to be drawn from the pictures.4 Those pictures range widely across the BrainDrops catalogue, and three of them form an unusually telling group: KaliYuga's The Spaces Between Words, ClownVamp's Detective Jack: The Cold Case and Ren's Paradise Lost.3 The three series appeared within a single year, in June, September and December of 2023, and each treats an image as a fragment of something larger, whether an inner life, a missing woman's trail or a serialised story.5,6,7
KaliYuga presents The Spaces Between Words as a mono-mixed-media, post-collage series about the inner landscape of human experience, attentive to memory, emotion and identity and to the topography hidden in the gaps of a life.8 The series history describes its portraits as assemblages resembling torn paper, photographs, newsprint, embroidery and flowers, typically set against a plain coloured ground.5 Bridges Too Far departs from that pattern in a way the eye registers at once. Its traits record a solo portrait over simple terrain, with a desert, and the picture accordingly opens behind its sitter into hills and sun rather than closing around the face with a flat field.2 The sunglasses matter as much as the setting. Where the series tends to crowd a face with stitched blooms or cut paper, this sitter wears sunglasses, making the expression harder to read.5,8 The work is also recorded as heartless, a trait implying that other portraits in the edition carry a heart motif, and its absence leaves the composition spare, little more than a profile and a horizon.2,5

The title reads like a weary idiom, and the image gives it a geography, placing the figure before receding bands of land.2 KaliYuga is better known as a maker of tools than of editions, with public notebooks for fine-tuned diffusion models that reproduce particular media such as pixel art, watercolour and lithography.5 No model is named for this edition, so its collage appearance belongs to the series as a whole, which the series history reads as a single surface depicting cuts and layers rather than making them.5 The edition was released on 14 June 2023 and sold out on the day.5
Three months later, ClownVamp turned a whole edition into evidence.6 The Cold Case opens in 1961, when Tiffany Abbington vanishes the night before Jack Crimson means to propose, leaving a case file shadowed by the KGB, the CIA and John F. Kennedy's name.9 An Odd Alley sits in the Memories category of that file, and it shows power lines crossing a teal and pink sky above a street, a lone figure and a pale green building.10 Its case note places the alley behind a row of dilapidated shops in East LA and fixes on a graffiti tag that matches a symbol from Tiffany's old notebooks.10 The traits list both the team and the main character as unknown, so the figure in the street stays anonymous, a fitting condition for a memory built around an unanswered clue.10 The flat, saturated palette is the series' signature, closer to a paperback cover or period advertisement than to film noir, and it suits an artist who has spoken of an interest in how advertising and AI were converging.6 The artist shaped the edition by editing a vast body of outputs down, printing the images and arranging them on a dining table to find the story's groupings.6 An Odd Alley is one of several Cold Case works in manta_eth's holdings.3

Paradise Lost, released by Ren on 29 December 2023, is described as a collection created and curated in the form of a graphic novel, a story of power, friendship and freedom with a script developed with the help of AI models.11,7 Its anime-styled panels follow a young inventor through a technological city.7 Gearing Up shows a dark-haired figure in orange sleeves glancing back over one shoulder in a crowded grey street.12 It belongs to the fourth act, Clash of Ideals, in a scene titled Massively Multiplayer Virtual Life, and its description has Hiroshi and his allies breaching NeuraCorp's servers and finding themselves inside a simulation they must cross to reach headquarters.12 The title names preparation, and the over-the-shoulder glance carries it, a look back before moving forward through a world that is not quite real.12 Ren identified keeping characters consistent across the story as the edition's central challenge, met through prompting and editing, and Gearing Up shares its act and scene with the panels in which the protagonist stares into a fracturing city and then plugs into a headset.7

Seen together, the three works could be told apart without captions. Bridges Too Far is a solitary profile against banded desert, its frame slightly wider than tall.2,5 An Odd Alley spreads sideways in landscape format, a street under wires and a two-toned sky, with its figure small and unnamed.10,6 Gearing Up stands upright in a tall page format, a grey crowd pierced by one pair of orange sleeves.7,12 Orange links the sun above KaliYuga’s sitter to the patch of sleeve that draws the eye through Ren’s crowd.2,12 Each series also binds words to pictures differently, with one shared statement for KaliYuga, a case note accompanying An Odd Alley and an act and scene for Ren.8,10,12 Read in order of release, manta_eth's three works move from an inner landscape to a cold trail to a simulated city, and in each a single figure anchors the scene.5,6,7
