Chimerical Stories

The work in context

Chimerical Stories begins with a contrast between the familiar caterpillar–chrysalis–butterfly sequence and less familiar transformations in aquatic life. The project asks what forms can become imaginable when an organism’s life cycle is not already part of our shared visual vocabulary. [1]

Construction and process

The credited practice is Entangled Others, the duo Sofia Crespo and Feileacan McCormick. Their wider projects investigate how datasets represent—and fail to represent—nonhuman life. That ecological context is documented; the specific Chimerical Stories training pipeline is not established by the short BrainDrops release text. [1][2]

Release and mint

The official catalogue dates this release to 2022-05-03. At the 2026-10-13 check, the platform reported 513 minted works against a maximum of 513. Those equal figures establish the platform’s reported count, not how quickly the edition sold or who performed the mints. [1]

Launch price, presale conditions, mint duration and realised proceeds are not established in this dossier’s evidence. No current market price is substituted for a historical mint price. [1]

Token and preservation

This release uses the shared BrainDrops Ethereum contract. Its official project identifier is 12; the archive matches token IDs to projects and checks ownership at a fixed block. The contract record, token metadata and displayed media are separate parts of the object. [3][4]

BD5D stores optimised still previews, and preserves original media links in its catalogue. The evidence assembled here does not establish that the generative model, its training data, or the full-resolution artwork bytes execute or reside on Ethereum.

Series-specific licence: not established. No explicit licence grant has been verified in the sources cited for this dossier. BD5D does not label the work CC0 or assign commercial rights from token ownership. The paper or software associated with a project may have its own licence; that is a separate record from the artwork.
