Jediwolf calls UnderTheGAN a collection of early AI art. In a written interview with Kate Vass Galerie, the collector describes looking for artists who trained their own models before the recent wave of image generators made AI art familiar.3 Months of research went into an Early AI Art Timeline before the collection took shape.4 The BrainDrops register follows one address associated with this gallery, the UnderTheGAN wallet.5 Its marketplace profile links to the UnderTheGAN gallery on DECA.6 Among the BrainDrops works in that address are Gene Kogan’s Brain Loops, Xander Steenbrugge’s DreamScapes and Devi Parikh’s Confluence.7 Kogan was one of the early practitioners Jediwolf named in the interview. With Brain Loops the collector could follow that artist into a different moment, when a text-to-image model supplied a looping video made from an unlikely pairing of genre and subject.8

Alexander Mordvintsev, the creator of DeepDream, is on the same list of pioneers, and his Cats sits at the very start of that history.3 Cats was generated in May 2015, before DeepDream's code was released publicly in July 2015. It was minted as a unique token in June 2024 for Automat und Mensch 2.0, a group retrospective on AI history at Kate Vass Galerie.9 In the image, a grassy field dissolves into overlapping striped tabby cats and cat faces in hallucinatory pinks, greens and violets.9 The token metadata records that the work was first shown in May 2019 as a small physical print that was not for sale.9 A wallet listed on the UnderTheGAN profile on DECA received Cats on 19 June 2024, and the November token check found it in that wallet.9 Speaking to Kate Vass Galerie, Jediwolf called Cats a retroactive mint. The collector said such works are usually avoided unless they have historical significance and strong provenance, and that Cats met both tests.3 DreamScapes uses dream language too. It runs a highly customised VQGAN and CLIP pipeline to evoke the fantastical dreamworlds people pass through every night.10

Jediwolf told OpenSea that Midjourney suddenly made sense of Robbie Barrat's 2018 Lost Robbies, which showed a path from imperfection and supposed ugliness towards the polish of current AI.4 Materia Mania by huemin, released on 12 March 2023, offers a later way of looking at those imperfections. It sets abstract forms against a solid black background and reinforces the artifacting shapes and textures that diffusion models tend to produce.11 One of Jediwolf’s editions is identified in the token record as blue, isometric and textured with a trace.12 Those labels offer a vocabulary for something a viewer might otherwise dismiss as an artefact. In the Kate Vass Galerie interview the collector placed early AI art with the pioneers who trained their own advanced models between 2014 and 2019, years before Midjourney and Stable Diffusion appeared.3 Confluence and Life In West America, two later projects built on custom models, both appear in the 16 October record.7 Devi Parikh's Confluence, from January 2022, uses a neural generative model trained on the artist's own sketchbook of doodles, paper cutting, mandalas and zentangles. The generations are then re-rendered in a range of palettes.13 Roope Rainisto's Life In West America, from February 2023, uses models custom-trained for the project. It joins the visual language of traditional photography to the limitless artifice of AI.14

Jediwolf describes the second collection, overeXposed, as a way to follow the history of tokenised art across different periods. Snowfro appears among the artists the collector names.4 The collector told OpenSea about following one type of Chromie Squiggle, a gently fading line on a white background, for two years.4 Chromie Squiggle #3585, from 2020, is a faint, ghostly squiggle of fine parallel strokes. It fades from pale yellow through green to blue across a white ground and ends in a solid blue dot.15 jediwolf.eth received it on 1 October 2024, and the November token check places it in that wallet.15 Its white field reverses the setting of Materia Mania, where huemin's abstract AI forms sit against solid black.11

The BrainDrops audit belongs to UnderTheGAN. It places KaliYuga’s The Spaces Between Words beside Ivona Tau’s Dominoes in Fluxus and Ira Greenberg’s Mappings.7 The October register weights time held and edition size for that address.5 Its separate 6529 consolidation record lists the address on its own.16 This distinction matters when moving between Jediwolf’s collections. A Squiggle in jediwolf.eth helps explain the collector’s wider interest in generative art. It does not contribute to the BrainDrops holdings attributed to UnderTheGAN.

Jediwolf told OpenSea about collecting physical objects before turning to blockchain art. In the collector's view, the energy of art moves even better through immaterial forms.4 Mitchell F. Chan is among the artists the collector named for overeXposed. That collection begins with Rare Pepes and Spells of Genesis and moves through later eras of the space.4 Chan's work in the collection dates from 2017 and is a transferable wrapper and receipt for a single IKB token.17 jediwolf.eth received it on 29 October 2025, and the later token record still names that wallet as holder.17 Cats also keeps its history inside the token. Its metadata records an appearance in a 2018 article by curator Jason Bailey, as well as the 2019 print.9 Chan's piece records its exhibition history the same way, with a first-exhibited date among its token attributes.17

Digital Zone of Immaterial Pictorial Sensibility shows a pale receipt titled Cachet de Garantie on a lilac ground. It is filled in by hand with its series and edition numbers, French script text and the artist's signature.17 For a collector interested in when a work was made, shown, and finally minted, a receipt is an apt place to end up. The marks that identify the edition and the signature that authenticates it are also what there is to look at.
