An orange car painted with flames stands on a pale road edged by trees, and the picture has the unhurried look of a snapshot from a long drive.² The work is Hot Rod, credited to Roope Rainisto, with the Form trait Union and a landscape orientation.² It sits among the BrainDrops holdings of LinusCaldwell, the account name on a public Art Blocks collecting profile, next to delphi method and Abandoned Building.^3,4 These works come from different projects and different years, yet each acts on the viewer through a different sense of time, whether forecast, imagined past or unsolved crime.^2,5,6

Hot Rod comes from Life In West America, released on 8 February 2023 by Rainisto, a Finnish artist, designer and photographer.⁷ The project describes itself as post-photography, an inquiry into America as a concept, as an ideal and as the stories of the people who inhabit the space.⁸ Every image comes from models trained by the artist for this project alone, and BD5D adds that the training used Dreambooth.^8,7 The results resemble colour photographs of the American West from the middle of last century, and almost every one contains something a camera could never have captured.⁷ Rainisto has visited the United States only a few times, and BD5D reads that distance as part of the work, an America assembled from images that circulate around the world rather than from direct observation.⁷

Seen against that background, the flaming car reads as a caption without a story.^2,7 Rainisto has said that each piece in the series has its own narrative and title, and BD5D compares the short titles to captions that hint at a story without telling it.⁷ Hot Rod names a machine rather than a person, and flames painted on the bodywork make it a machine built to be looked at, which suggests how a single object can stand for a way of occupying the land.^2,8 That is interpretation. The Union trait invites a link to the fusion of photographic convention and machine generation, but the project page does not explain the Form values, so the link stays unproven.^8,7 More secure is the stated aim of capturing a moment in time and in generative technology, which makes the work a portrait of a period in the tools as much as of a place.⁸ In Evening Swim, a figure stands beside still water. Shoes and belongings lie on the shore, and the wall of a building cuts off our view to the left. The work brings Rainisto into this wallet a second way, through the group release All AI Art Looks The Same.^3,9

Claire Silver's Genesis appeared on 15 November 2021, one of the releases with which BrainDrops opened beside Gene Kogan's Brain Loops and Pindar Van Arman's podGANs, and it was the only one of them made of still images.¹⁰ The project describes raw AI images created and arranged to tell a story of what is and what is yet to come.¹¹ Silver later called it a story about building a new civilization on what came before, told through visual cues rather than text, a description that recalls her interest elsewhere in qualia, the felt quality of experience.¹⁰ delphi method sits in the chapter crossroads and the cycle nocturne, with an exterior locale, a group as its subject and the descriptives glow, child and ghosts of future past.⁶ Those traits place a group outdoors at night, at a point of choice, with past and future folded into one phrase.⁶ BD5D explains that the cycle trait fixes each image at a time of day, although the order of the chapters is undocumented.¹⁰ The title borrows a technique for forecasting, and beside a crossroads after dark it suggests a group trying to see ahead from a moment of decision, though the project text speaks only of the story as a whole.^6,11

Detective Jack: The Cold Case was released on 18 September 2023 by ClownVamp, the pseudonymous artist behind the case.¹² The story is set in 1961, when Detective Jack Crimson plans to propose to Tiffany Abbington and she disappears the night before, while the KGB and CIA obstruct his search and the name of John F. Kennedy keeps surfacing.¹³ After years without answers, Jack turns to the reader and shares a case file sorted into categories that run from Memories and Locations to Scans and Dreams.¹³ BD5D places the project as a prequel to an earlier Detective Jack adventure that began on Tezos, and notes that the artist printed the images and laid them out on a dining table to find the groupings.¹² The look is a flat, saturated mid-century illustration, closer to a paperback cover than to film noir, and the narrative is spread among owners, none of whom holds all of it.¹²

Abandoned Building belongs to the Locations category and is credited to ClownVamp.⁵ A single-storey roadside building stands beneath a pink sky and power lines.⁵ Its Main Character trait is Building and its Team trait is Unknown, so the place itself takes the role usually given to a suspect or a witness.⁵ The case note recalls that this is where a missing person was found the previous year, and says the air inside is thick, as if the visitor were breathing in the past.⁵ It adds rumours of underground tunnels and graffiti that changes with every visit, which makes the site unstable as evidence.⁵ The note asks its partner to remember, which echoes the project's appeal to the reader for help.^5,13 Because the team trait sorts the cast into factions, an Unknown assignment leaves the allegiance of the building as open as the case.¹²

Time is the thread through these works. delphi method looks toward ghosts of future past, Hot Rod preserves a moment in the history of generative tools, and Abandoned Building returns to 1961 and a past that can be breathed.^6,8,5,13 Silver, Rainisto and ClownVamp each build meaning through selection, from curated raw images to heavily edited outputs sequenced by hand.^11,7,12 For LinusCaldwell, the holdings join a wordless civilization, an imagined America and an unfinished case file in a collection that reaches from the opening releases to later narrative editions.^3,4,12,10
