gnz0 holds a Mappings image by Ira Greenberg in which a bright diagonal network of pale blue lines cuts across a dense dark field flecked with orange.2 The name appears alone on a collecting profile, with no portrait, website or social account beside it, so the works do the introducing.3 At the ownership audit of October 2026, those works spread across many BrainDrops releases, with Greenberg's Mappings and Ivona Tau's Dominoes in Fluxus forming the deepest seams.4 Among them sits a video from Chikai's Anthrocinematica, and three pieces, a night map, a dusk transition and a photograph of newlyweds, show how differently these artists picture the places people make.4,5

The Mappings work is titled Mappings Two Hundred and Seventy-Nine, and its recorded traits give its palette as Metal, its motif as Night and its expression as Logos.2 Greenberg's release says the maps were never the plan.6 Structures began to appear during an open exploration of generative space, and the motifs followed them, reversing the habit of a painter who sets out with a subject in view.6 He names landscape painting, map illustration, data visualisation and generative coding as strands of his history that the series drew together unbidden, a range his biography as painter, programmer, educator and author of an early guide to the Processing language bears out.6,7 In this image the diagram wins. The pale blue lines are bright and interlinked, laid over a ground so dense it reads less as land than as darkness, and the orange flecks sit in that darkness like scattered lights.2 Metal is one of the series' custom palettes, assigned at random, so the cold blue and warm orange arrive as a given scheme rather than as a description of any real city.2,6 The series history notes, with due caution, that among the few examples it examined the Logos image was the more diagrammatic, and this work keeps that company.7

Dominoes in Fluxus came first, released on 19 July 2023, six weeks before Mappings.8,7 Whirling Metamorphosis shows rows of glowing orange shapes like numerals floating against a dark blue surface, and its recorded time is Dusk.9 The title leads with the numbers of its start and end points, which its traits repeat, because every piece in the series is a link with two labelled ends.9 Each work is an eight-second loop that morphs from one still image to another, so that pieces with matching ends can be laid end to end like dominoes.8 The release frames this as a game in which collectors find matching elements and orchestrate their own paths, set against a theme of gentle, constant change in natural and built surroundings.10 Tau, a new media artist from Vilnius with a doctorate in artificial intelligence, trained her own image model for the series on pictures sharing a quality of light at dusk and dawn, in reflection and smoke, then hand-picked stills and curated the transitions between them.8 Here the numbering of the title seems to have surfaced in the picture itself, and the orange glyphs hover on the blue like a scoreboard after dark.9

Anthrocinematica arrived on 29 March 2024, the latest of the three releases.11 Newlyweds shows a small photograph of a couple pinned against a weathered, mottled background.5 Its labels place it in a living room in Japan, with photographs of Japan on the wall and a subject recorded as man and woman.5 Each sequence in the series zooms in on one photograph from a wall in a room set in Ethiopia, Finland, India, the United States or Japan, and each room exists twice, hung once with people and places of Japan and once with those of the United States.12 The release ties that doubling to the artist's own multicultural heritage.12 Chikai, a Japanese-American artist and filmmaker, builds these loops so the camera opens close on a framed picture, pulls back to the crowded wall and returns, meeting its own beginning.11 In Newlyweds the room and the photograph share a country, a point of agreement in a series built on doubling, and the title names exactly the kind of occasion such walls exist to keep.5,12

Put side by side, the three works separate at a glance.2,9,5 Greenberg's picture is a still image organised by a diagonal web of pale lines, Tau's is a moving surface ordered in rows of symbols, and Chikai's centres on one small rectangle against a weathered, mottled ground.2,9,5 The first two share an orange heat on darkness, yet the Mappings flecks lie scattered while the Dominoes shapes stand in ranks.2,9 Newlyweds leaves that night palette for something nearer old plaster and faded paper, where interest lies in surface and in the presence of two people rather than in light.5

The viewpoints are where the collection grows most interesting. Greenberg's series surveys invented country from above, snowed-in suburbs and quilted farmland caught between the aerial photograph, the painted map and the chart.7 Chikai is a co-creator of Google Earth, yet Anthrocinematica brings the camera indoors, close enough to read a single wall of keepsakes.11 Tau's series sits between them, concerned with the gradual alteration of places, an unending interplay of nature and human building, rather than with their layout or their mementoes.10 Read in order of release, from July 2023 through August to the following March, the three series move from transformation to mapping to the photograph on the wall.8,7,11

In the audited holdings, the weight falls on the first two series.4 Depth in Dominoes in Fluxus places the collection inside a work whose structure gives meaning to holding more than one link, while depth in Mappings gathers many views of country that never existed.4,10,7 Newlyweds then supplies the human scale those maps leave out, a couple in a living room, pinned to a wall.5 Seen from that wall, the pale blue lines of the night map look less like roads than like routes a pair of lives might trace across a city.2
