Research and sources
BD5D follows AB5D’s approach to connected artist, series and collector research. The aim is comprehensive coverage with visible evidence—not an appearance of certainty where records are missing.
What this edition covers
- 35 series dossiers: concept, construction, release, preservation, rights status, related work and sampled collectors.
- 36 artist practices, including individual collaboration credits. Twenty entries include existing practice context; the other sixteen now have expanded, cited dossiers. Mindshift and ricky are documented through their collaborations, with biographical gaps stated explicitly.
- 52 wallet dossiers, with 4,501 contract tokens checked at block 26183126.
- 3,445 searchable addresses from the dated public collector index.
- 100 cited source records, with primary release documentation at the centre.
Different kinds of evidence
Official release records establish published names, dates, descriptions and reported supply. They do not alone prove mint proceeds, sell-out timing or the full technical process.
Artist statements and interviews establish what the artist says about their process. They are attributed accounts. Interpretive connections between works are BD5D’s editorial synthesis.
Blockchain reads establish the owner returned by the contract at a specified block. They do not establish legal identity, beneficial ownership or a collector’s motives.
Third-party indexes offer discovery and holding-time context. Their labels, coverage and timestamps remain separate from the direct chain audit.
What remains unresolved
Most releases lack a fully reconstructed mint timeline and a verified series-specific licence in this edition. Several artist pages document the BrainDrops contribution rather than a complete career. The collector audit is a selected sample, not a census; the wider index is not a real-time ownership feed. These limitations are repeated where they affect a claim.
We do not infer a generation model from appearance, treat maximum supply as issued supply, merge wallets by similar names, or assign every collaborative token to every participating artist. External airdrops remain outside the verified completion claim.
Authorship and reuse
BD5D · AI-assisted research and editorial synthesis. Research updated 2026-10-13. Each dossier includes its own bibliography and citation line. Artwork rights remain separate from the text and from token ownership.
